I've created a few videos for our Blood Bowl Mid-Atlantic Mauling League. Below are a few of them.
This season, the league switched over to using Blood Bowl III. So, I wanted the theme to be "a new age". I wanted to highlight where Blood Bowl has been as well as where it is today.
The Starting Soon video goes through a brief history of the game, including both tabletop and video game incarnations of Blood Bowl. The game intro starts with a seventeen second prelude showing some of the various tabletop versions of the game. I then cut to rolling triple skulls because I thought it was a funny way to show a through-line of the game's history. If anything has stayed consistent in Blood Bowl, it's the feeling of rolling triple skulls.
Then, a short montage of the various versions of Cyanide Studio's Blood Bowl video games is shown during the BGM's prelude. Finally, the new game, Blood Bowl III, is shown off. The game intro ends with the MAML logo floating away as plumes of smoke. There's no thematic reason behind this. I just wanted an excuse to play around in Fusion.
I updated the transition to be less "in your face" but more dynamic. Lots of lines and bars swish in from the edges of the viewport. The logo is smaller but rotates more than in the previous transition. I also rotate the spotlight around the logo rather than the other way around. I wanted this transition to feel faster than the previous transition but actually be longer to allow for more time to swap the scene. I also optimized the video to run faster and avoid streaming hiccups I had with the previous transition.
The game overlays mimic (more or less) the official box art overlays of the tabletop games. I want MAML games to look up-to-date with the latest iterations of Blood Bowl. I also wanted something short, simple, and clear. Moreover, I wanted the text to be read in by file rather than be rendered in the video. That way, I could generate facts to display on the fly. The VS screen follows suit to be more consistent with the game overlays.
The new interstitials are white on black, to ensure those with colorblindness can read it. I added a fire particle effect because the background image has it and also because, again, I wanted an excuse to play around in Fusion.
Below is the current channel trailer.
